Film project for young newcomers
Common Frames, De Frisse Blik and Ithaka Transition Classes (ISK) present Ithaka Film Festival. Young people who are new to the Netherlands make short films – from script to editing – and see their own productions on the big screen during the Ithaka Film Festival. By participating in Ithaka Films, young newcomers get (life) lessons in creativity, storytelling and establishing a connection (with each other and with the environment). This accelerates their development and position in the Netherlands.
On the 1st of October 2019 five films of the youth were screened at the Netherlands Film Festival in Utrecht. See the trailer here:
The new edition of the project will start in november 2019.
SPEAK UP! – Media for inclusion
Supporting the inclusion of newly arrived migrants via good quality education
Common Frames participates in an upscaling of our project ‘Ithaka Filmt’ in five European countries.
Speak up! – Media for inclusion is a response to the current situation with newly arrived migrants. The project focuses on developing, disseminating and scaling up of good practices in media and information literacy trainings, making media workshops and film festivals for young migrants and refugees in France (Radio Raje, IREX Europe), The Netherlands (Common Frames), Greece (Karpos), Italy (Forma.Azione) and Hungary (MIGhelp / Next Step).
In the project good practices on inclusive education and promoting common values are disseminated and scaled up. Common Frames will partner up with The Video Bakery and Utrecht University in The Netherlands to share methods of video production with newly arrived migrants (Ithaka Filmt).
The project started in January 2020 and is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
